iPhone / iPad Monday Minute - Quick Swap Between Open Apps

From https://billsiphonetips.com/ Today's video shows a quick and easy way to "swap" - or move, to put it simply - between open apps on your iPhone or iPad. The technique works with either iOS device. In the "old days" of iPhones and iPads, a user (that's you and me) would have to quickly double-press the "home" button on your device (back when they had physical home buttons...) to see a display of all the open apps currently running. Then you could tap on any of those open apps to open it full-screen to use it. Now, the latest versions of iOS have a much quicker (and better!) way of moving between apps, and you'll see it in this "Monday Minute" video. I promise - it's fast and easy! It may take a little practice to get it right, but once you do, you'll never go back to the old way of moving between open apps. As always, if you watch this video and still have more questions, or have a good idea for a future video of something you’d like to learn about your iPhone or iPad, please leave a comment below. I read and personally respond to all of them. Also, be sure to check out my blog, https://billsiphonetips.com/ for all past videos, including the iPhone Friday and iPhone / iPad Monday Minute series. iPhone Friday - Creating Reminders from Email Messages

From https://billsiphonetips.com/ Today's video combines two of the most-used iPhone / iPad apps - Mail and Reminders - and shows you how turn an email into an iPhone (or iPad) Reminder, complete with due-date and time. For me, I get lots of email messages that I need to be "reminded" of at a later date (or time). Stuff like doctors' appointments, car repairs and lots more usually show up in my inbox several days before the actual event. With this technique, you can turn any email into a reminder that will - you guessed it - remind you of the event before it happens. This technique has absolutely saved my bacon many times! Unfortunately, Apple's built-in email app on the iPhone and iPad does not include the "Share Sheet" function that's found in so many other apps. (Why is that, Apple? Can we get some software guys working on this ASAP?) However, that doesn't mean we still can't "send" an email message to the reminders app for future reference. There's at least one good workaround, which we'll show you in this video. Even better, when you create a Reminder using this technique, the actual reminder entry in the Reminders app includes a clickable / tappable link that opens up the original email, right in the Email app. Again, very useful and helpful. Setting the "Default" App for Email and Web Browsing

My latest iPhone Friday video - setting default apps for email and web browser in the new iOS 14. More here: http://www.BillSklodowski.com

Emoji Search - What's New Wednesday.

From http://billsklodowski.com - This one is simple and fun. If you really want to be cool (and who doesn’t?) with you type messages, you’ll want to be sure to use those little smiley-faces and other symbols to add some life to your text. They’re called “emojis” and can show all sorts of emotions (hence the name), but lots, lots more as well.

Over time, the collection of emojis has expanded. Starting with simple faces, thumbs up / down, and a few stars and unicorns, there are now literally hundreds of emojis you can use to spice up your messages.

And our iPhones and iPads tried - and sometimes failed hilariously - to help. As you type a message or email, ever notice how the keyboard will “suggest” an emoji for you? Sometimes it’s exactly what you want to say. Other times, not so much.

Yet another upgrade in the latest iOS 14 software will now make it easier to find exactly the emoji you want, to say and express exactly what you have on your mind. You can now search for emojis directly on your keyboard and then easily insert them into your message.

In this video, I’ll show you how to find all those emojis, how to search for exactly the one you want, and how to insert it into your message. This new feature is guaranteed to take your emoji game up to the next level, as the kids would say.

Best of all, it’s easy, and can be used in virtually any app that allows you to insert emojis; text messages, emails, social media posts and lots, lots more. Check it out!

Don’t forget: You can get a free weekly "Recap" email telling you all about the past week's videos, and a link to download the free "class handout" to show you exactly how to do it what we show on the videos (usually the iPhone Friday video, but sometimes both the weekly videos have handouts.)

"I" is for iOS - iPhone Friday - iPhone A to Z

From http://billsklodowski.com -  What a coincidence! We’ve been doing the “iPhone A to Z” thing, and this week we arrived at the “I.” Just in time to cover the latest iOS update from Apple: iOS 14! Cool!

Of course Apple releases new versions of its iPhone and iPad software just about every year, and normally it’s not this big of an event. This year however, the release of iOS 14 is a REALLY big deal. The new software that runs your iPhone or iPad has added tons of new features and functions. So it’s time to dig in!

Now, if you’re worried about having to learn how to use your iPhone or iPad all over again… don’t panic! Yes, there’s a lot of cool new features and functions, but you can implement them at your own pace, and learn to use them as you go. If you want, you can continue to use your device in (almost) exactly the same way you did before.

Yet… I would encourage you to check out this (and other upcoming) videos to see some of the cool changes, and how you can put them to work. Stay tuned!

Now, it’s impossible to cover everything in a short video, so we’ll be spending the next few weeks going over the upgrades and changes. In this video, I’ll show you a few super-cool new tricks that you can only do with iOS 14.

NOTE: If you missed it, you can get started on your iOS 14 journey by checking out the previous “What’s New Wednesday” video. It talks about the download / upgrade process, and shows a couple of new features, too. Here’s a link to that video: https://youtu.be/OSDMwHZFk1U

Now, keep in mind we’re just getting started. We’re going to invest the next few weeks in getting you up to speed on the upgrades and changes offered by iOS 14. Not only that, we’re preparing a full-on “Masterclass” that’s going to be offered to our subscribers and friends in the near future. Again, stay tuned!

Remember also: you can get a free weekly "Recap" email telling you all about the past week's videos, and a link to download the free "class handout" to show you exactly how to do it what we show on the videos (usually the iPhone Friday video, but sometimes both the weekly videos have handouts.)

iOS 14 Is Here! What's New Wednesday

From http://billsklodowski.com -  The wait is over… iOS 14 is here! Apple releases new versions of its iPhone and iPad software just about every year, and normally it’s nothing to get super-excited about. But this time is different, especially if you are a big Apple fan and look forward to checking out all the latest developments to help you use your devices more effectively (and have more fun with them).

With iOS 14, Apple has made some changes and upgrades unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. That’s exciting! There are a LOT of changes and upgrades in the way your iPhone is going to work and play with the addition of this latest software.

But don’t panic! Just because there’s a lot of new stuff going on under the hood, it doesn’t mean you have to completely re-learn to use you iPhone or iPad. In fact, you can continue to use your device in (almost) exactly the same way you did before, if that’s what you want to do.

Yet… I would encourage you to check out this (and other upcoming) videos to see some of the cool changes, and how you can put them to work. Stay tuned!

For this first iOS 14 video, I’ll review the upgrade / update process. If you haven’t upgraded your iPhone or iPad yet, this will show you the best, easiest and safest way to do it. I’ll also show off a couple of the brand-new features and function you’ll be seeing on your device after the upgrade is complete. I’ll introduce you to home-screen widgets, and show you the basics of the brand-new “App Library.”
